A failed chimney taken down and rebuilt
A leaning industrial stack rebuilt from the corbel up, brick for matched brick, on the original base.
A century of flue gas had eaten the mortar out of the upper stack, and the top two metres had gone out of plumb. We took it down to sound brickwork, kept every brick that would clean, and rebuilt to the same detail with a lime mortar that will give before the brick does.
The corbelled oversailing courses were rebuilt one at a time off a template, each course set back to the drawing so the load stays central on the stack below.
